Sweet Dilly - An Illustrated Poem in Bahamian Dialect

You can easily spot fruit vendors all around the streets of The Bahamas. Flaunting their fresh and colorful produce, like bees to honey, these vendors attract swarms of sweet-talking buyers. It's quite common for customers to haggle with vendors, and some of them are incredibly skillful in the art of bargaining.

Some time ago, as I was replenishing my fruit stock, a taxi driver pulled up to a roadside vendor selling sapodillas. It was quite amusing to watch him trying to strike a deal after eating more than a fair share of her produce. This gave me the idea of creating Sweet Dilly. Experience Bahamian culture at its funniest – it's as delightful as that of the witty taxi driver and the tough-as-nails vendor!
